Cake Competition Prizes – Summer BBQ 7th July 2017


For the summer BBQ we are asking the children to get involved in the cake stall. In the style of the TV Show “The Great British Bake Off’” we are asking the children to bake a Showstopper, all the children are invited to get creative, bake and decorate. We have invited Liz Long from the Secret Bakery in Harrogate who will judge the children’s entries and prizes will be given in the following 4 categories before being sold on the cake stall:

Key Stage 2 upper (years 5 and 6)
Key Stage 2 lower (years 3 and 4)
Key Stage 1 (years 1 and 2)
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

Each category will be judged for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winning the following prizes:

1st Prize: The children’s cook book “Bake me a story” by Nadiya Hussain, a £10 WH Smiths Voucher, a 1st Place Certificate and a 1st Place Wooden Spoon
2nd Prize: A Mrs Smith’s Café voucher for Hot Chocolate and Cake, a 2nd Place Certificate and a 2nd Place Wooden Spoon
3rd Prize: A 3rd Place Certificate, a 3rd Place Wooden Spoon and a selection of sweets.

The Rules
The entry can be anything from a shop bought cake and decorated by the child to something made from scratch
This can be anything from a large cake to a cupcake to a biscuit.
The cake doesn’t have to be a cake, but can be any desert including biscuits, gingerbread, cake pops
All entries must be brought into school before the start of the BBQ to allow time for laying out and judging before the BBQ commences.
All Cakes and entries need to be brought into school between 2pm and 5:45pm on the afternoon of the BBQ.
All entries must be labelled with the entry form provided, with child’s name, class, contact details and the name of their entry!

PTA Ceilidh – Friday 23rd June

St Wildrid’s Church Hall, Duchy Road from 7.15pm

The PTA are hosting a Ceilidh at St Wilfrid’s Church Hall, Duchy Road, on Friday 23rd June from 7.15pm.

To book your tickets simply download, complete and return this Ceilidh Order Form to the school office.

It’s set to be a great night with music, dancing (with full instructions), bar and a BBQ supper if requested.

Key Stage 2 Disco

The Key Stage 2 Disco will take place on Friday 26th May 2017 in the St Robert’s School Hall between 6:30pm and 8:00pm.

Your child’s ticket for £4 will include a drink, a packet of crisps and a bag of tuck shop sweets.

There will also be spot prizes for dancing and fun dance offs!

Tickets must be bought by Thursday afternoon

The PTA Race Night a Success!

The PTA Committee and St Robert’s School would like to thank all those who attended the PTA Race Night on Friday 31st March 2017. Everyone had a great time and raised a significant amount of money. This was all thanks to the following:

St Robert’s Cub – Hosting the event at a discounted cost, and supplied free drinks to the winners

St Robert’s Primary School Staff – Supplying a lovely hamper as a prize for Race 1
The Black Sheep Brewery – Supplying a Brewery tour and selection of ales as a prize for Race 2
The Academy Health Club & Spa – Supplying a family pass as a prize for Race 3
Macief Magic Meat – Supplying a voucher for his shop and a couple of bottles of wine as a prize for Race 4
A.Smith Opticians and Mrs Smith’s Cafe – Supplying vouchers for their shops as a prize for Race 5
Go Yoga, Go Revolution and COOK Harrogate – Go Yoga and Go Revolution supplied free class passes and a sports bottle and COOK supplied a voucher for their shop as prizes for Race 6
Harrogate Town Football Club – Supplied a family ticket as a prize for Race 7
Harrogate Tipple – Supplied a selection of drinks as a prize for Race 8



PTA Volunteers Needed

The PTA has a strong and growing Committee and we are very excited about the year ahead. The PTA will be running new events such as the Ceilidh in June as well as old favourites such as the summer BBQ. Vicky Matykiewicz has been doing a great job for the past year in chairing the PTA Committee. However at the AGM on 22nd March, Vicky stepped down due to family commitments.

The Committee is looking for people to fill the roles of Chair and Vice-Chair in order to make the Committee viable. The role of Chair will be to co-ordinate and support those people who are helping to organise events and other fundraising. The role will involve delegating to make sure that events run smoothly. At the moment there are more active volunteers helping to organise events than there have been in the past, so you would have a strong Committee and a lot of helpers to ensure that the role doesn’t become too onerous. The PTA will only be able to run those events where there are enough volunteers to make events feasible. The role of the Vice-Chair will be to stand in for the Chair when he/she is not available.

The PTA Committee would be really grateful if you could consider volunteering for either the role of Chair or Vice-Chair and help to move the PTA forward. If you would like to share a role with a group of friends, this would also be possible.


A Night at the Races – 7.30pm, Friday 31st March 2017

PTA Race Night – Friday 31st March 2017

They are under starters orders, and they’re off!

On Friday 31st of March 2017 the PTA are hosting a race night as a parent’s social at the St Robert’s Catholic club on Roberts Street.

Doors open at 7:30pm with the first race starting at 7:50pm. Tickets are available in advance by payment to the PTA either by BACS or by Cheque. Tickets cost £10 which includes a Pie and Peas meal and a free bet for the first race. All bets thereafter will be £1 each. There are no odds for a horse but everyone with a ticket for the winning horse of the particular race will win a share of 50% of the takings of that race, the remaining 50% goes to the PTA charity.

There will be a video giving the form of the horses involved on the night, and the race is shown on a DVD and will be commentated by our own live commentator.

Depending on ticket sales, we are trying to get some other prizes arranged, to be announced closer to the event so please book your tickets now!

Looks like this will be a great night for all parents, guardians and friends!

Thank you and looking forward to 2017

Thanks for supporting the PTA so brilliantly over the last year! All the fundraising could not be achieved without your time, energy and assistance.

We’d like to offer a special thank you to all the class reps for helping organise the Christmas Fayre. We’d also like to thank everyone who supported the event in any way, these events couldn’t go ahead without the support of the whole school community!

In 2017 we’re looking forward to the Annual Easter Egg Hunt (weds 5th April) and Chocolate Bingo (Thursday 6th April) followed in the summer term by the Summer BBQ (Friday 7th July)!

If you’d like to get involved please come along to any PTA meeting, the full list of dates is on this website with the next meeting being on Wednesday 25th January.

Christmas Fayre – Friday 2nd December

Friday 2nd December 6-7.30pm in the School Hall


The Christmas Fayre is a great family event and one of the PTA’s biggest fundraisers. There will be games and activities for all the children to enjoy and stalls selling food, drink and Christmas goodies. So please come along and support this great event! You can also buy raffle tickets to win one of the amazing filled hampers.

Remember you can help out at the event too by…

Donating on the day:
Cakes: for the cake stall (if baking using nuts/nut oils-please make a note when you bring your cakes in)
Bottles: Anything in a bottle e.g. bubble bath, drinks or alcohol for the Bottlebola.
We are also asking parents with children in:

Key Stage One to make and donate a Christmas cracker (made from decorated kitchen roll tubes and filled with sweets, small toys etc)
Key Stage Two to fill a decorated jar with sweets and chocolates for selling on the Jarbola stall.

Donating to your class rep from now:
Children’s toys: for a second hand toy stall (in good condition suitable for 4-11 year olds, no pre-school toys please)
Hamper items: To help build the prize hamper assigned to your class

Volunteering your time:
To help on your class stall for 15 minutes on the evening
To help set up and clear away after the event

Fundraising News – Storage Sheds for the Reception Area and Behind the School

The PTA are delighted to announce that the sheds for the reception area of the school and behind the school kitchen area have been assembled. These sheds are now available for use providing some much needed additional storage solutions for these areas.

Thanks for your involvement with the PTA for fundraising for projects like this.

PTA Summer BBQ

Friday 1st July 6-8pm

This is a big PTA fundraising event. There are stalls with games and activities for children, usually a bouncy castle and other exciting attractions. There is a BBQ and salad bar, strawberries, cakes and other food stalls. There is also a bar and live music. It’s a lovely family event and a great fundraiser.


Key Stage Two Disco

Friday 13th May

Key Stage Two Disco (for Years 3, 4, 5 and 6):

Friday 13th May, 6.30 – 8pm, in the school hall.
This is an organised Disco for KS2 children. Children will need to be supervised at this event by a parent or a named adult at the event -you need to have returned your reply slip to get a ticket for this event.
